Sculptra

About the Treatment

Sculptra is an FDA-approved injectable treatment designed to restore facial volume, reduce wrinkles, and promote a more youthful appearance.

Unlike traditional dermal fillers, which provide immediate volume, Sculptra works gradually by stimulating your body’s natural collagen production. Made from poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biocompatible substance, Sculptra triggers your skin’s natural regenerative process, promoting collagen growth to restore lost volume and improve skin elasticity.

This results in a gradual, subtle enhancement of facial contours and smoother skin over time. Sculptra is ideal for those seeking long-term improvements in facial volume, structure, and skin quality.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Plan for 1.5 to 2 hours for your Sculptra appointment. A topical numbing cream will be applied to the treatment areas for comfort.

  • Immediately following your Sculptra treatment, there will be noticeable improvement in the treated areas, due to the sterile water used to mix and inject the Sculptra. This fluid will be absorbed over the next few days. However, the Sculptra remains in place and stimulates collagen production over the next several weeks. There will be mild to moderate swelling, possible redness, and mild to moderate bruising which generally resolve in about 7 days. It’s essential to follow post-care instructions for optimal results.

  • Most individuals see improvements in their skin health once the initial recovery is complete. Since collagen production takes time, peak results are typically seen 3 to 6 months after treatment and can last 2 years or more.

While the results are long-lasting, the natural aging process will continue, so it’s essential to stay committed to your treatment plan to maintain and optimize your results. Incorporating a personalized medical-grade skincare routine will also support skin health and prolong results. Your provider will recommend the best products based on your skin type and goals.

  • The number of Sculptra vials and treatments needed varies and depends on your concerns, goals, skin condition, degree of volume loss, and your provider’s assessment findings. Typically, 2 vials of Sculptra are injected at the first appointment, followed by 2 more vials approximately 6 to 8 weeks later. Annual Sculptra treatments with 1 to 2 vials are recommended to maintain and optimize results.
